The state attorney general’s office wanted all seven Montana Supreme Court justices to step back from a case about a GOP push to change Supreme Court elections from statewide to district-based races. In denying the motion, the high court said this week that the AG’s recusal standard would leave the judiciary without anyone qualified to hear the case.
