Tschida, Curdy face off in race for key state Senate seat 

Diane Sands’ term-limited departure leaves an open path for either party to take Senate District 49 in an election year when Democrats hope to hold as much ground as possible against a surging Montana GOP that needs only two more seats to achieve a bicameral legislative supermajority. The district is at the center of both ambitions, and in the background are major policy debates around abortion, housing affordability and the economy.
