While doula practice has been unregulated in Montana, a new law signed by Gov. Greg Gianforte requires practicing doulas to be licensed through the state Department of Labor and Industry. It also allows doulas to bill Medicaid for their services, which supporters say will expand access to care and improve health outcomes, particularly in rural and tribal communities.
