Early Thursday morning, Congress ratified the results of the Electoral College vote, confirming Joe Biden as the next president.
While Montana U.S. Sen. Daines did not object to certification of any state’s result, Montana U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale on Wednesday night joined 147 Republican members of Congress in objecting to certification of the results of at least one state, as he had announced on Tuesday he would.
“I will not be intimidated by mob violence from the left or right,” Rosendale said in a Tweet Wednesday night.
Soon after Congress’ action on Thursday morning, President Donald Trump, while continuing to maintain that he’d won the election, said there would be an “orderly transition” of the presidency to Biden.
As of 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, spokespeople for Daines and Rosendale have not responded to questions about whether they now affirm Biden as the legitimately elected president.
